I was taking down an old barn years a go and found an old cowbell, Doing some research on it I have found out that it was made back in the 1830 pre civil war, by a guy named orson starr, he was like some of the first settlers to come to royal oak michigan allso the first business to start in michigan, the ingravement on it says, otarr with the number 4 below that, can you tell me what the 4 stands for and is it worth as much as the internet says it is?is it as rare as they say to. thank you.
I live just aest of the little town glenn , on 64th street, and my phone number is . 269-251-4067. And thank you again. Burt

    • Burton, that’s a great find! I don’t know a lot about cowbells but it may be a good idea to get it appraised. There is an appraiser in Coloma that works out of the antique mall down there that may be able to help you. You may have a real treasure.
